Alvin Duke, Sr.

April 21, 1933 - June 27, 2018

Mr. Alvin Duke, Sr., age 85, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at NHC Columbia.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 2-3PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 21, 1933 in Maury County, Alvin was the son of the late Raymond Duke and the late Maxine Davis Duke. He was a devout Christian who was very committed to his faith. He worked as a self employed painter of which he was very proud. Alvin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at family reunions and gatherings.

He is survived by his children: Alvin Duke, Jr., Calvin Duke, Audwin Duke all of Los Angeles, CA; daughter: Carlisse Duke Kiawczyk of MA; step daughter: Gloria (Don) Dobbins-Ferguson of Manteca, CA; a very devoted niece: Christy Holt; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step son: George Dobbins; brothers: George Duke, Raymond Duke, Jr., Leroy Duke; and sisters: Hazel Braden, Bertha Hardison, Birdie Bell, Artress Holt, Ailene Mayes.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers, and nieces will serve as flower girls.
