Brenda Kay Hightower, age 66, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, May 27 at her residence.

Born February 28, 1952 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Brady and Edith McMullen Palmer and the wife of Kerry Hightower. Brenda was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She loved caring for her family, particularly her grandchildren and she liked to travel, especially to Tunica. For four years, she was the administrator for Toys for Tots of Maury County and always made sure each child had a toy for Christmas.

Funeral services for Brenda will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 30 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in the Maury Memorial Gardens adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, May 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral Home.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her daughters: Michelle Sullivan of Columbia and Shannon Gray of Spring Hill; brother: Mac (Debbie) Palmer of Columbia; grandchildren: Danielle Ragsdale, Ashley Rhodes, Brittney Richards, Brett Szostek and Chelsey Szostek; special sister-in-laws (more like sisters): Louise Crick and Debbie Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Jimmy Palmer.

Pallbearers will be Brett Szostek, Brian Richards, Justin Rhodes, Leroy Chumley, Joe Hunt, Paul Berrar, Tony Sullivan and Hunter Tingle. Honorary pallbearers will be Marine Corps League Attachment 1286, Ken Hightower, Terry Hightower, Jason Palmer and Doris McMullin.
