Jimmy Dwayne Long, age 64, resident of Summertown, passed away Thursday evening peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born September 23, 1953 in Lawrenceburg, Jimmy was the son of the late Troy and Julia Criswell Long and husband of Pamela Shapiro Long. He was a graduate of Summertown High School and worked for CSX and Southern Railroad as a tamper machine operator. He loved to fish and hunt, especially coon, rabbit and squirrel. He was a marksman shooter and could build anything, even his own home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 27 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in the Center Community of Lawrence County with Bro. Thomas Mattox officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.
In addition to his loving wife, Pamela, he is survived by his children: Linnea Brewer and Shelly (Micah) Mattox, both of Summertown; step children: Kory Shapiro of Hohenwald, Heather Sanders and her husband Bret Mitchell of Fair Hope, AL and Jinger Brewer of Summertown; brothers: Bobby (Nell) Long, Tommy (Annette) Long, Virgil Long and Billy (Faye) Long, all of the Center Community; sisters: Darlene Smith of Ethridge and Judy Carol Long of Henryville; 11 grandchildren; special friend: David Sharpton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Jeremy Long and brothers: Delbert Long and Puckett Long.
