William J. Hitchen

July 16, 1921 - May 6, 2018

William J. Hitchen, age 96, of Normal, Illinois, formerly Chicago, passed away May 6, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends.

A private interment will take place at East Lawn Mausoleum in Bloomington, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Wedrose Acres: 16747 Kappa Rd, Gridley, IL 61744. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born on July 16, 1921 in Akron, Ohio and was the son of the late James Hitchen and the late Phyllis Holmes Hitchen. He married Adeline Spiewak in 1953; she preceded him in death in February of 2007. He was a WWII veteran, serving with the Navy in the South Pacific. Bill led a beautiful and full life including fishing, sports, car restoration and travelling with his wife.

He is survived by his sons: Geoffrey Hitchen and Robert (Margaret) Hitchen and grandsons: Kevin (Meagan) Hitchen and Marc (Kara) Hitchen.
