Jack S. Lockhart, age 83, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe Pike in the Santa Fe Community, passed away Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Joe Bowers, Eddie Miller, and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jack was born in Santa Fe, TN on April 30, 1935. He was the son of the late Herchel Lockhart and the late Gladys Galloway Lockhart. He graduated from Santa Fe School in 1953. Jack worked for Union Carbide for forty-one years before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed raising vegetables and sharing those with family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Jack was more precious to us than we can adequately express in words.
He is survived by his sons: Steve (Pam) Lockhart of Columbia, Marty Lockhart of Santa Fe; daughter: Sissy (Dean) Sewell of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Trevor (Amanda) Lockhart of Winchester, Lindsey (Kyle) Rowekamp of Columbia; sister: Nancy Lockhart Fox of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law: Gaye Baker Peach of Santa Fe, Colleen (Tom) Hargrove of Santa Fe, Virginia Layman Baker of Blacksburg, VA; brothers-in-law: Randall (Jean) Baker of Santa Fe, Jason (Trisha) Holt Goose Creek, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years: Maxine “Moonie” Baker Lockhart; sister: Jean Lockhart Walker; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Peach, Frank Walker, Rob Fox, Roger Baker, Vernon Baker, Church Howlett; and sisters-in-law: Esta Baker Holt, Thelma Baker Howlett, and Donna Baker.
Pallbearers will be: Trevor Lockhart, Dean Sewell, Kyle Rowekamp, Lindon Baker, Danny Fox, Milton Beard, Tim Fox, Garry Beard, Brian Jones, and Bishop Turrentine.
Honorary pallbearers will include: James Woody, Clyde Skelley, Wilburn Potts, Shirley Thompson, Karen Malugin, Henry Harris, Carol Waldrum, Eddie & Sue Miller, the Santa Fe Class of 1953, and his friends at the Santa Fe Diner.
