Josephine Patti Boyd

January 25, 1923 - April 18, 2018

Josephine Patti Boyd, age 95, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Randy McNeese officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 12-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Josephine was born on January 25, 1923 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. At the young age of seventeen, she met James Albert Boyd while he was serving overseas during World War II. An adventurous spirit, Josephine decided to leave her homeland of Italy and move to the United States where she married her beloved soldier, James, in 1947. She worked at Publix Shirt Factory in Mt. Pleasant for over thirty years before retiring in 1991. Josephine especially enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by her son: Joe Frank (Reba) Boyd of Columbia; brothers: Calogero Patti of Italy, Gionanni Patti of Italy; sister: Lidia Patti of Italy, Rosetta Patti of Italy; and grandson: Terry (Barbara) Boyd of Nashville.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister: Maria Patti; and brothers: Joseph Patti, Petro Patti, and Geno Patti.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and great nephews.
