Dorothy “Dot” Mai Swann, age 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday morning, April 12, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Shaun Grant and Pastor Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8PM and again on Monday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on February 13, 1934 in Springfield, TN, Dot was the daughter of the late Laurel Ed Etheridge and the late Ruby Brimm Etheridge. In her younger years, she enjoyed flowers, sewing and reading and most recently enjoyed listening to music and playing Bingo. It was important to Dot that she always look nice so she often enjoyed dressing up. She especially loved spending time with her children and many grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Ruby Dianne Bradford of Columbia, Patricia Pulley Morris (Farriel Scott) of Columbia, Rhonda (Jay) Brown of Unionville, Donald Edward Morris (Shelia Peppers) of Summertown, Larry Swann of Illinois, Tammy Jenkins (Joel Turnbow) of Summertown, Lisa (Jeff) Poarch of Lewisburg, Leigh Ann Hinson of Columbia; brother: Laurel Ed (Martha) Etheridge, Jr. of Santa Fe; sister: Margie Hodge of Lewisburg; son-in-law: Jimmy Griggs of Lewisburg; grandchildren: Carey (Rachel) Bradford, Tracy Bradford, William (Heather) Brown, Clinton (Shayna) Brown, Christopher (Lynsy) Brown, Brittany Morris, Charles “CJ” (Allie) Morris, Jonathan Morris, Zack Morris, Cindy Swann, Joey Swann, Corey Swann, Blake (Tammy) Jenkins, Brandy Jenkins, Christi (Corey) Allen, Brad (Megan) Cashion, Corey (Mandy) Poarch, Matthew Poarch, Bethany Hinson, Brandon Connell, James “Jamie” Edward Griggs; and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Charles Edward Morris; second husband: Fred Marvin Swann; daughter: Sandra Lynn Griggs; son: Timothy Morris; grandson: Steven Edward Pulley; and sons-in-law: Leroy Bradford and Donald Pulley.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brad Cashion, Corey Allen, Corey Poarch, CJ Morris, John Morris, Zack Morris, Carey Bradford, Blake Jenkins, Clinton Brown, William Brown, Christopher Brown, and Brandon Connell.
