Mr. Jimmy “Tippy” Staggs, age 66, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8PM and again on Sunday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Columbia, Jimmy was born on July 18, 1951 and was the son of the late William Owen Staggs and the late Mary Ellen Chapman Staggs. He served his country in the United States Army and worked many years as a truck driver for Harlan Oil Company. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching movies and loved old cars, especially Corvettes. Jimmy was an all around fun and loving man who enjoyed making people laugh.

He is survived by his brothers: David (Shelia) Staggs of Columbia, William Ray Staggs of Hampshire; grandchildren: Jordan Staggs of Culleoka, Cameron Staggs of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law: Mindy Staggs of Mt. Pleasant; niece: Tracy Staggs of Columbia; nephews: Jason Staggs of Columbia, Chris (Brandi) Roland of Columbia; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Staggs; son: Jimmy Dale Staggs; and brother: Billy Wayne Staggs.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Blackburn, Tim Gore, Steven McCrary, Clarence Chapman, C. J. Lindsey, Lane McCrary, Daniel McCrary and Ron Stahlhood.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Maquiling and the staff of Vanderbilt Heart Group for the care and compassion during this difficult time.
