Gary R. Newton

September 19, 1947 - March 16, 2018

Mr. Gary Roger Newton, age 70, a resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away Friday evening, March 16, 2018 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 11am at Mars Hill Methodist Church with Bro. Billy Beal officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary was a Lawrence County native and was the son of the late Reed Newton and the late Nadine Bonner Newton.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a machinist and later retired from Morris Logging as a truck driver.   He married the love of his life, Anna Sue Legg Newton, on July 2, 1982.  Together, they were in the Classic Car Club and were members of the Elks Lodge in Lawrenceburg.  Gary enjoyed drag racing, watching Nascar, and was an avid hunter.   He was also a member of the Good Guys Car Organization.

Along with his wife, Anna Sue Newton, he is survived by his son: Kevin Matthew Newton of Lawrenceburg; step children: Tonya Webb of Lawrenceburg and Jeff (Jennifer) Webb of Nashville; sister: Virginia Gregg of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren: Drake, Hunter, Winter, Taylor, Jeffery, Jerrett, Lexie; and several nieces and nephews.
