Mr. James W. Wells, age 83, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday evening, January 26, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10AM until the 11AM service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born August 11, 1934 in Maury County and was the eldest son of the late Jimmy Wells and late Myrtle Williams Wells. He attended College Hill High School. James was a meticulous dresser and loved his hats. After retirement from US Steel Mill, he worked for IOI in Columbia.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing and celebrate his life, a devoted and loving wife: Regina Hardison Wells ; children: Valerie Wells, Pastor George Dooley, Keith Wells, Jeryl, Jarod, Michelle Washington, Melony Wallace, Davena Hardison, Anndreia Hardison, and Laquita Lockridge; siblings: Isom (Thelma) Wells, Charles Scuddie Wells, Caldwell Wells, Jennie Mitchell, and Charlene Cooper; devoted friends: Ruddy Jones, Mitchell Goff, Jr., Herb Davis, and J.A. Potter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Walter and Willie Williams; children: Kevin, Kenny, Shavonne, and Jerry Wells; siblings: Ralph, Walter, and Richard Amos; and devoted grandson: Jerry Wells.
