Mr. Edward Boyd Lucas, age 85, husband of Betty Lucas, and a resident of Park Drive in Columbia, passed away Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2PM at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Pastor Bo Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will also be held on Monday from 11AM-2PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on October 12, 1932 in Bedford, Indiana, Edward was the son of the late Joe Lucas and the late Eva Edwards Lucas Goudelock Davis. He was a 1951 graduate of Eudora High School in Eudora, AR and served his country in the United States Air Force from December 1952 to December 1956. He married Betty Englerth on February 17, 1957. Edward was a member of the Gideons International and was the past President of Delhi Louisiana Jaycees. He served as a volunteer fireman for the City of Delhi, LA and was the co-founder of Richland Parrish School for Special Needs. Edward was a devoted member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbia where he previously served as the Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Trustees, and the church Treasurer. He coached Dixie League baseball in Louisiana and was a softball coach for the St. Luke church league in Columbia. Edward was an avid camper; he and his wife enjoyed travelling extensively across the United States in their RV.

In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his children: Debbie (Ronald) Follis of Columbia, Rick (Cinde) Lucas of Hendersonville, Stacey (Trent) Dority of Pleasant View; sister: Mildred (Charles) Summerland of Hamburg, AR; grandchildren: Jacob (Kelly) Dale of Ft. Belvoir, VA, Andrew Dale (Jessica Johnson) of Summertown, Angela (Jeremy) Tosh of Columbia, Matthew Dale of Lawrenceburg, Brian Follis (Christina Dale) of Lewisburg, Zachary Dority of Pleasant View, Jordann Dority (Travis Sanchez) of Pleasant View, Rachel Lucas (Corey Crum) of Leoma, Lucas Dority of Pleasant View; and great grandchildren: Hunter Dale, Hayden Dale, Wyatt Follis, Ashlyn Dale, Kingston Dale, Emma Tosh, Joseph Lucas, and Drew Dale.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Arthur Goudelock, Raymond Goudelock, Dorothy Mosley, and Mary Lee Norton.

Pallbearers will be: Andrew Dale, Matthew Dale, Jeremy Tosh, Brian Follis, Zachary Dority, Lucas Dority, and Travis Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will include: Mark Sells, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at St. Luke United Methodist Church, and the members of the Columbia Gideons International.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Luke United Methodist Church Building Fund: 606 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, TN 38401 or to the Columbia Gideons International: 2632 Leah Drive, Columbia, TN 38401.
