Jennis Young

July 21, 1951 - December 20, 2017

Mrs. Jennis Elnor Young, age 66, wife of Roger Young, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday morning, December 20, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Tommy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 21, 1951 in Marshall County, Jennis was the daughter of the late Loftin E. Davis and the late Sarah Katherine Andrews Davis. She was a member of Old Lasea Church of Christ and worked 33 years at Teledyne in Lewisburg before retiring in July of 2016. Jennis was very active in her church. She loved to cook and enjoyed taking food and gifts to her neighbors. She also enjoyed vacationing in the mountains and taking care of her husband.

In addition to her husband Roger of 46 years, she is survived by her brother: John (Cathy) Davis of Cornersville; sister: Rebecca Ann (William D.) Cheek of Lewisburg; sisters & brothers -in-law: Linda Young, Gail (Dwayne) Adams, Joyce (Marshall) Dodson, Glenda Sealey (Pete Cannady), Joan (Ronald) Dugger, Randy (Terri) Young; nieces: Jennifer Cook of Cornersville, Elizabeth (Randy) Hill of Nashville; nephew: Matthew (Stephanie) Cheek of Mooresville; great niece: KayLee Cook; and great nephew: Kitt Cook.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law: Jerry Young.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Dugger, Matt Cheek, Dawson Pigg, Kitt Cook, Mike Corter, and Dwight Brown. Honorary pallbearers will include: members of Old Lasea Church of Christ and family and friends.
