Mr. Stephen Patrick Westfall, age 71, resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his residence.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM at the funeral home. A Masonic service will begin at 3:30 PM with the memorial service immediately following with Pastor Rick Points officiating at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Stephen was born May 20, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was the son of the late Royce Edward Westfall and the late Lucille Tooke Westfall McCamy.  He was a graduate of Warren Central High School, attended Ball State University in Indiana, and graduated from ITT Technical Institute.  He also completed an apprenticeship through the Department of Labor and was a journeyman Machine Repairman, and an EIT Machine Builder.  He collectively spent forty years in the automotive industry, working for Chrysler from 1964-1977, Detroit Diesel Allison from 1977-1987, and The Saturn Corporation from 1987-2006.  During his career with the Saturn Corporation he held multiple positions including: module advisor positions, skilled trades spare parts acquisition, and he taught mechanical robotics tear down.

Stephen was a 32nd degree Mason at the Oakland Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, Indiana; where he had been a member for fifty years.  He was a member of the Murat Shrine Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana; where he was a member for forty years.  He also was a member of the Morgan County Shrine Club, where he served as president from 1983-1984.  He was deeply involved with the Shrine Circus, and fundraisers for Shriner’s Hospitals.  An outdoors-man at heart, Stephen was a professional bass fisherman for forty years.

He is survived by his children: Shawn (Kathy) Westfall of Washington, D.C., Tracy (Anthony) Huff of Columbia, and Christopher (Dawn) Westfall of Columbia; sister: Linda (Mike) Ashar of Vermilion, Ohio; grandchildren: Amber (Travis) Ross, Ashley Rhodey, Zachary Westfall, Alston Huff, Stevye (Travis) Howell, Kerri (Daniel) Cummins, Brandon (Alicia) Westfall, Katlyn Westfall, Jonathan (Jackie) Nichols; great grandchildren: Hadley Howell, Braxton Fisher,  Hunter Fleeman, Ethan McCain, Preslee McCain, Carrigan Cummins, Wyatt Cummins, Logan Stanfill, Lexie Stanfill, Brilee Stanfill, Kaden Reynolds, Karver Reynolds, Mason Cantrell, Neaveh Myers, Jeremiah Nichols; and baby Hudson Westfall on the way.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Jane Knorr Westfall; his biological mother: Genevieve Smith Clark; step father: Alston Ramon McCamy; brother: Russell Paddock; step sister: Estha Ruth Flynn; and grandson: Jonathan Stanfill.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ball and Dr. Gardner and staff, Compassus, Home Health Care of Middle Tennessee and their staff, NHC Home Health Care and their staff, and the help of Brianna Boshers and Jennifer Cates.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriner’s Hospitals.
