Mary Lee "Nanny" Ring

September 2, 1930 - November 11, 2017

Mrs. Mary Lee “Nanny” Ring, age 87, resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 11 at the home of her daughter.

Funeral service for Mrs. Ring will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 14 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Claiborne, Bailey McCandless, Paul Ring, Stephen Ring, David Ring, Michael Orr and Tim Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ring, Larry Yeager, members of Collegevue Church of Christ and employees of Betty’s Parkway Restaurant.

Born September 2, 1930 in Davidson County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Slate Crabtree and wife of the late Ted Ring, Sr. She worked for Maury Regional Hospital as a unit secretary and was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ. She had passion of card playing which included Rook, Sets and Runs and 9 in the Hole and she also enjoyed Yahtzee and Parcheesi. Most of all she loved her family and her church family.

Mrs. Ring is survived by her loving family of two daughters: Paula McCandless and Linda (Thomas) Claiborne, both of Columbia; two sons: Ted (Sandra) Ring, Jr. of Columbia and Terry “Rusty” (Patsy) Ring of Hampshire; brother-in-law: Billy Joe Ring of Chapel Hill; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Thomas Wayne Ring; grandson: Adam Wayne Ring; sister: Myra Tidwell and son-in-law: Gary McCandless.
