Lucy H. Guthrie

November 12, 1928 - November 5, 2017

Lucy H. Guthrie, age 88, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at NHC Columbia, just one week shy of her 89th birthday.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1PM at Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on November 12, 1928 in Giles County, Lucy was the daughter of the late John Hutton and the late Ina Gardner Hutton. She was a graduate of Bodenham School in Giles County and attended Columbia Business College. Lucy was the owner of Guthrie-Love Insurance Company for forty years and loved all of her customers. She was a previous member of Graymere Church of Christ. Lucy enjoyed baking and sending cards to people on special occasions. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them.

She is survived by her son: Jimmy Guthrie of Columbia; daughters: Brenda Guthrie of Nashville, Myra (Steve) Osborne of Lancaster, SC, Karen (Tom) Skinner of Columbia; brothers: David Hutton of Pulaski, John (Adean) Hutton of Lawrenceburg, George (Judith) Hutton of Lawrenceburg, Donald Hutton of Decatur, AL, Larry Hutton of Pulaski; sister: Peggy (Duane) Berry of Pulaski; grandchildren: Jimmy (Alicia) Guthrie, Julie Guthrie Mathews, Steven (Mandy) Osborne, Tara Love (John) McMeen, Kendall (Shauna) Love; great grandchildren: Jessie Guthrie, Katie (Blake) Staggs, Alyssa Guthrie, Gage Mathews, Cassie Mathews, Bailey Osborne, Ana Osborne, Austin Osborne, Abby McMeen, Piper Love; and one great great grandchild: Aaron Staggs.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie Guthrie; grandchildren: Jennifer Guthrie and Valarie Osborne; and sisters: Elaine Story and Nell Legg.

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Guthrie and his son Jimmy Guthrie, Jesse Guthrie, Gage Mathews, Kendall Love, and John McMeen.
