Mr. Will Frank Woody, Sr., age 82, husband of Juanita Fitzgerald Woody and a resident of Snow Creek Road in Santa Fe, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017 at NHC Columbia.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Stan Butt and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Sunday from 3:30 - 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Santa Fe, Will Frank was born on May 2, 1935 and was the son of the late Willis Winfred Woody and the late Nannie Bell Jones Woody. He was a 1953 graduate of Santa Fe School and served in the National Guard from 1953-1959. He was a member of Anderson Bend Church of Christ. Will Frank was employed as an electrician for Monsanto Chemical Company in Columbia from 1961-1986 before transferring to Saflex in Michigan where he retired in 1991. In his earlier years, he worked for Martin and Vaughn Hardware and was a licensed watch maker. He enjoyed farming, restoring old tractors, and attending many tractor shows. Will Frank also loved water skiing, riding motorcycles, and playing Rook.
In addition to his wife, Juanita of 64 years, he is survived by his children: Frank (Brenda) Woody, Jr. of Columbia, Carol (Phil) Storck of Washington Township, MI, Nancy (Danny) Wells of Smyrna, Douglas (Melanie) Woody of Santa Fe, Carl Gene (Aimee) Woody of Riverview, MI; grandchildren: Katrina Woody, Sabrina Woody, Rebecca (Tim) Bytwerk, Jonathan Lappin, Daniel Lappin, Philip Wells, Jessica Wells, Sarah Wells, Willis Woody, Victoria Woody, Kayla Woody, Michael Woody, Alex Woody, Jennifer (John) Hines, Phil (Kelly) Storck; great grandchildren: Addison Bytwerk, Dylan Bytwerk, Lizzie Bytwerk, Sarah Bytwerk, Christian Bytwerk, Stephen Hines, Lily Hines, Archer Storck, Ellie Storck; nephews: Winfred (Cindy) Baker of Water Valley, Keith Baker of Santa Fe; and beloved dogs: Midnight and Spot.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Mai Woody Baker; brother: Howard Jones Woody; brother in law: Ralph Baker; and niece: Cindy Baker.
Pallbearers will be: grandsons and Ricky Kelley, Bill McDonald, Gary Beard, Byron White, Keith Baker, and Winfred Baker. Honorary pallbearers will include: granddaughters, retirees of Monsanto Chemical Company in Columbia, retirees of Saflex in Trenton, MI, members of Anderson Bend Church of Christ, Snooks Kelley, Judy Anderson, Raybon Kelley, and James Woody.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Home Instead and NHC Columbia for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
