Mr. Roy E. Cobble, age 78, husband of Sue Cobble, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday evening, October 20, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, October 29th at 1pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at a later date in the Garden of Grace at Maury Memorial Gardens, located adjacent to the funeral home.  The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 12 noon until the 1pm service at the funeral home.

Roy was born May 5, 1939 in Maury County and was the son of the late Buford Cobble and the late Ruby Coleman Cobble.  He graduated from Carver Smith in Columbia and was of the Christian faith.  He served the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959 and then enlisted with the United States Navy, retiring from the Navy after serving for 21 years.  After retirement from the Navy he worked as a recruiter for the Navy and retired from General Electric.  Roy enjoyed gardening but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his loving wife of 31 years Sue Ann Cecil Cobble Roy is survived by his son: Rogelio (Crystal) Manlimos; daughters: Jacquelyn (Monroe) Baldwin, Genita Cecil (Shakey) Cobble, and Cheryl (Lateef) Cobble, all of Columbia; brother: John (Carolyn) Bumpas of Columbia; sisters: Flora L. (Roy) Jennings of Detroit, MI, Sarah Bumpas of Columbia, Ruby Marie Marlow of Columbia, Charlene Huddleson of Nashville, and Tommie McDuffie of Detroit, MI; brother in law: David Cecil of CT; sisters in law: Roberta Dobbins, “Lovey” Faye (Billie) Frierson, Ossie Holt, and Hope Elaine (Jeffery) Holt, all of Columbia; grandchildren and special friends: Aniah Brown, Bishop Manlimos, JoVaughn Bray, Corderro Lee, Jr., Roe Montae Royale Baldwin, Zikoya Cobble, and Toriano Baldwin; and a very special great nephew: Tylon Martine.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: J.B. Cobble; sister: Maxine Johnson Jackson; brother in law: Arthur Cecil; and mother in law: Cora Holt.

Pallbearers will be the United States Navy.  Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Cecil, De Marcus Cecil, Lateef Martin Monroe Baldwin, Levon Marlow, Terrance Cecil, and Bertrand M. Bumpas.
