Mrs. Diane Whitaker Cothron, age 65, wife of William Cothron, and a resident of Rock Springs Road in Columbia, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Vance Capley officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9-10AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Diane was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina and was the daughter of Sarah (Don) Mochel and the late Harold Whitaker. She worked at Southern Bell and for the Department of Motor Vehicles in South Carolina. In 1980, she moved to Tennessee where she worked for Tennessee Farm Bureau in Columbia and Service Merchandise in Brentwood. Diane later became an LPN and worked as a nurse at Life Care Center, Eric Scheitel Chiropractor, Core Physicians, Home Health, and Grace Healthcare. After retiring, she worked part time for Music City Auto Auctions in Spring Hill.

In addition to her husband, mother, and step father, she is survived by her son: James (Kori) Kelley of Graham, WA; sisters: Sandra (Ed) Rivenbark of West Columbia, SC, Donna (Ken) Spires of West Columbia, SC; brother: Rick Mochel of Cayce, SC; grandchildren: Marissa, Ireland, and Mason Kelley; and nephews: Matt (Alisha) Spires, Griffin (Stephanie) Spires, and Mitchell Mochel.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mason Kelley.
