Eugene Seagraves

February 4, 1932 - September 3, 2017

Mr. Eugene Seagraves, age 85, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points and Bro. Alan Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 4, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, Eugene was the son of the late Joel Van Seagraves and the late Mattie Cummins Seagraves. He worked as an over the road mechanic for General Trucking for forty years. He was a devoted worker, husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his grandbabies, great grandbabies, and pet cats. Eugene enjoyed being outdoors, cleaning up his vehicles, and wood whittling.

He is survived by his children: Charles (Reba) McCoy of Columbia, Wanda Seagraves Walton of Columbia, Ricky (Leta) Seagraves of Columbia, Ronnie (Barbara) Seagraves of Lewisburg, Sherry (Doc) Dale of Columbia, Billy (Connie) Seagraves of Columbia, Terry Seagraves of Columbia; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Marie Seagraves; grandson: Adam Seagraves; brothers: Odell Seagraves, Harvey Seagraves, Joe Van Seagraves; and sisters: Ruth Kahler, Ann Seagraves, Geneva Seagraves, and Ivey Dell Seagraves.

Pallbearers will be: Dakota Seagraves, Roger Lancaster, Jeremy McCoy, Charles McCoy, Richard Seagraves, and Mark Deloy. Honorary pallbearers will include: the past employees of General Trucking.
