John G. Martin

John G. Martin of Dickson formerly of the Theta Community in Maury County passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 27th at 3PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Nelson Boyd officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Saturday, August 26th from 4-6PM at Heritage Funeral Home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born November 14, 1940 in Davidson County and was the son of the late Raymond Martin and late Vera Hendrickson Martin.  He worked as a carpenter and enjoyed playing the harmonica.  Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching country and western shows.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Young Martin of Dickson; son: John (Slate) Martin of Dickson; daughters: Jennifer (Will) Stephenson of AL, Callie (Eric) Stout of GA, Reginia (Todd) Cooper of Mt. Pleasant, and Kendra Martin of FL; sister: Carolyn Stewart of Primm Springs; grandchildren: Sarah Stout, Jacob Stout, Jay Cooper, Brandon Dieterich, Brittany Messick, Paige Martin, Taylor Martin, Hannah Martin, and Jonah Stephenson; and seven great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by five sisters, five brothers, and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jay Cooper, Jacob Stout, Logan Messick, Andy Brumitt, Jr. Brumitt, and Timmy Waller.
