Vera Ann Pusser Whittimore

March 4, 1936 - August 10, 2017

Vera Ann Pusser Whittimore, age 81, a resident of Crest Hill, Illinois for 32 years before moving to Columbia in 1989, passed away Thursday morning, August 10, 2017 at Life Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on March 4, 1936 in Chester County, TN Vera was the daughter of the late Willie Richard Pusser and the late I.C. Rainey Pusser. She attended Chester County Schools and was of the Protestant faith. She previously worked for Kerr Glass and for Joliet Army Ammunition Plant where she built bombs for the Vietnam War. She was also a waitress and housewife and one of the top moms of the many great moms. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and working in the yard with flowers and in her vegetable gardens.

She is survived by her son: James “Rick” Whittimore of Columbia; daughter: Vicky A. Whittimore (Charles) White of Columbia; brothers: James C. (Barbara) Pusser of West Tennessee, Richard Michael (Diane) Pusser of West Tennessee; and one grandson: Tyler C. White.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James C. Whittimore; and sisters: Patsy Pusser, Virginia Austin, Lena Mae Hopper, Brenda Smith, and Pam Ayers

Pallbearers will be: Tyler White, Charles White, Rick Whittimore, Gary Furkin, Joe Ayers, and Mike Pusser.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Life Care Center’s nurses and CNAs and to Dr. Kennedy and his staff for their care and compassion over the years.
