Mrs. Verna “Jo” Sluder, age 73, wife of Ron Sluder, and a resident of Spring Hill, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor David Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Love in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 26, 1944 in Miles City, Montana, Verna was the daughter of the late Richard Hobbs and the late Palma Seteren Hobbs. Having been raised on a ranch, Verna was a cowgirl who loved the outdoors including: riding horses, fishing, and hunting. Being raised in a family of musicians, she acquired the talent of playing the piano, organ, and banjo. Besides her work as a homemaker, one of Verna’s biggest hobbies was collecting antiques. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren who she enjoyed taking shopping. She was an extremely generous person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Ralph Sluder of Bastrop, TX, Brian Sluder of Austin, TX, Michelle (Chris) Hendershot of Spring Hill, TN; sister: Carol (Lynn) Kirkpatrick of Arizona; and grandchildren: Trenton Minton, Skylar Buff, and Breanna Sluder.
