Mr. Craig Alan Hardy, age 53, husband of Mitzi Hardy, and a resident of Shapiro Trail in Columbia, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 4PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. John Eatherly officiating. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 3-4PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 10, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Craig was the son of Karen Janelle Haitz Hardy and the late Carleton Avery Hardy. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Arkansas. Craig worked as the project manager for Electronic Data Systems for twenty-five years before transferring to Hewitt Packard for five years and then to Bank of America for three years. He married Mitzi on December 26, 1981 and together they had two children. He was extremely proud of his sons and had a very special love for his grandchildren. Craig loved going on motorcycle rides and enjoyed the outdoors: family camping, grilling burgers, and sitting by the fire.

In addition to his mother and wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons: Brian (Fiona) Hardy of Abingdon, VA, Benjamin (Cheyanne) Hardy of Cypress, TX; brothers: Kyle (Mitzi) Hardy of Arkansas, Todd (Teresa) Hardy of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Finn Hardy and James Hardy; and father-in-law: Ira Vernon (Mavis) Payne of Arkansas.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law: Artie Lee Payne.
