Mr. David Earl Lancaster, age 64, a resident of Les Robinson Road in the Theta Community, passed away Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Bowers officiating. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM and again on Thursday from 12-1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on March 19, 1953 in Maury County, David was the son of Lenord Lancaster and the late Clara Mae Scott Lancaster. He attended Theta School before transferring to Spring Hill High School. He was of the Methodist faith and began working at Union Carbide in 1974 before retiring in 2016. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and going to races and mule pullings, but he especially loved horseback riding. David had a cheerful personality and could brighten anyone’s day. He had no enemies and made friends with everybody. He was a giving person who would give you the shirt off his back and lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister: Helen (Travis) Warf of Santa Fe; brother: Kenny G. (Cindy) Lancaster of Spring Hill; nieces and nephews: Troy (Charlene) Warf, Brent (Kellie) Warf, Stephanie Lancaster Haley, Shane (Stefanie) Lancaster, Joshua (Kimberly) Lancaster, Bert (Lori) Hutcherson, Haley (Derrick) Carroll; great nieces and nephews: Hannah, Justin, Caden, Emma, Karly, Wyatt, Madelyn, Riley, Braelyn, Luke; and cousins and best friends: Anita Lancaster King of Theta and Wanda Lancaster Burns of Theta.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Neal Lancaster.

Pallbearers will be: Troy Warf, Brent Warf, Shane Lancaster, Joshua Lancaster, Mark Hardy, Randy Davis, “Smitty” Smith, and John Tomaszewski. Honorary pallbearers will include: all of his horse riding family and friends and the employees of Union Carbide and GrafTech.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice Compassus, Dr. Marshall, and the doctors and nurses at Maury Regional Cancer Center.
