Arthur Alvin Neff, 88, of Spring Hill, TN, passed away Friday July 7, 2017.

He was born on February 4, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio to Ray and Ruth Neff.  He graduated from Plattsburg High School in Plattsburg, Ohio, in 1947.  He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, undergoing basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. He served as a Sergeant and Senior Communication Specialist from 1948-1952, during the Korean Conflict.  He was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany for three years and completed his service at Highland AFB in Long Island, New Jersey.

While on leave in Illinois he met and proposed to the love of his life, Virginia Schofield, all on the night of April 26, 1952.  They were married on October 11, 1952.  He was a farmer, a star route contractor for the United States Post Office and later worked for Walker Chevrolet in Franklin, TN.  He spent most of his life in the region of Murrayville and Jacksonville, Illinois before retiring to Tennessee to be near family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Neff and Ruth Smith Neff, his in-laws, Joseph Schofield and Opal Bettis Schofield, and infant son, Phillip, as well as his siblings, Jenny Schulte, Ray Neff, Helen Stephenson, and Robert Neff.

He is survived by his wife Virginia, sister, Patsy Tillery of Illinois, his children, Alan (Sheri) Neff of Spring Hill, TN, Joseph (Trudy) Neff of Springfield, Missouri, and Connie (Darrell) Leitze of Spring Hill, Tennessee.  Also by his grandchildren Joe Neff (and his son Carter) of Illinois, Travis (Amanda) Garner (and their sons Paxon, Asher and Jude), Jennifer Corley (and her son Devon), Kate Neff, Jayna Leitze, Keisha (Chris) Forsyth (and their daughters Norah and Tessa), all of Tennessee, and Raina Bennett (and her children, Madison, Colton, and Alyssa and her grandchild Aubrey)  and Josh (Abbie) Neff (and their children, Autumn, Evan, and Addison)of Missouri,  and in-laws, Russell Schofield, Mary Turner, John Schofield, and Charles Schofield.

He was loyal all his life to his beautiful wife and family, the Ohio State Buckeyes, General Motors Automobiles, and John Deere Tractors.

A memorial service is planned for later this summer in Illinois.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
