Edna Faye Roberts

November 22, 1933 - June 18, 2017

Edna Faye Roberts, age 83, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Signature Healthcare.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 5PM at Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church: 589 Southport Road, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474, with Bro. Mike Roberts and Bro. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM at the church and again on Tuesday from 3PM until the 5PM service at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on November 22, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Edna was the daughter of the late Oscar Russell and the late Lula Bruce Russell. She married Russell Roberts on June 8, 1949 and together they had eight children. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church for over sixty years where she served as the secretary for over thirty years and also taught Sunday school. Besides her work as a homemaker, she also worked at Storktown Manufacturing and Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing but was especially a devoted wife and mother. Edna loved sitting on the front porch with her husband watching her grandkids play while waving to anyone who drove by. The joy of her life was watching her children play sports. One thing was for sure with Edna, you always knew where you stood in her life because she would let you know, and any given day a different child could be her “golden child,” especially one of her boys.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons: Mike (Brenda) Roberts, Jerry (Sandy) Roberts, David (Vicki) Roberts, and Jeff (Angie) Roberts; daughters: Brenda Roberts, Sue (Rickey) Lindsey, and Lynn Spears; twenty-one grandchildren: Jenny York, Jon Roberts, Darryl Haywood, Brent Haywood, Brandon Roberts, Angie Lindsey, John Lindsey, Wayne Lindsey, Alan Lindsey, Casey Brewer, Neyland Roberts, Bethany Duberry, Jason Roberts, Amber Ingram, Lindsay Call, Shelby Spears, Wendell “Bubba” Spears, Jr., Ansley Roberts, Chance Rosson, Remi Roberts, and Ritz Roberts; thirty-three great-grandchildren and a special niece: Gayle (Jim) Powell.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Edward Wayne Roberts; sisters: Hes Lovell, Christine (Short) Odom, Margaret Lewis, Peggy Farris, Katherine Logue; and brothers: Buddy Russell, Gene Russell, Gilbert Russell, and Rob Russell.

Pallbearers will be: Darryl Haywood, Brent Haywood, Brandon Roberts, Jon Roberts, Neyland Roberts, John Lindsey, Wayne Lindsey, Alan Lindsey, Jason Roberts, Chance Rosson, Austin York, Peyton York, and Wendell “Bubba” Spears, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Rickey Lindsey, Wendell Spears, John Tomlin, Duane York, Jim Bailey, the McDonalds Breakfast Crew, deacons and members of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, and deacons and members of Parkway Baptist Church.
