Reverend James Calvin Lunn, age 70, a resident of Cranford Hollow Road in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at NHC- Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11am in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Kinnaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Hope at Maury Memorial Gardens, located adjacent to the funeral home with Military Honors provided by The Tennessee Army National Guard. The family will visit with friends on Friday, June 9th from 5-8pm and again on Saturday from 10am until the 11am service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Reverend Lunn was born February 2, 1947 in Maury County and was the son of the late Hugh Lunn and late Sara Frances Cammuse Lunn. He was a graduate of the class of 1965 from Columbia Central High School. He attended Columbia State Community College and Middle Tennessee State University. He graduated from Cornell University’s School of Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining. He completed seminary work through Memphis Theological Seminary Program of Studies. He served his country in the Tennessee Army National Guard from February 3, 1967 to February 3, 1973. He retired from Union Carbide – UCAR Carbon Company after 34 years of service. He served in many capacities including production and maintenance management and was the Human Resource Manager when he retired. He entered the ministry upon retirement and upon graduation from seminary work was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in November of 2003. Since then he pastored the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, First Cumberland Presbyterian Columbia, and had most recently pastored the Faith Fellowship Congregation, a new church development of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Batts Lunn, whom he married February 27, 1992; Son: Dr. Joshua James (Jen) Lunn of Spring Hill; Grandchildren: Makayla, Addison, Logan, and Sawyer Lunn; Step Children: Penny Love of Columbia and Machelle Bailey of Nashville; Step Grandchildren: Ashley, Hunter, and Caitlyn Love; and Brothers: Harry (Evaline) Lunn of Spring Hill and Danny (Bonnie) Lunn of Santa Fe.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents: John and Nora Harvey Lunn; Maternal Grandparents: Tom and Beulah Robinson Cammuse; and Sister: Brenda Lunn Mayfield.
Pallbearers will be Marcen Jeffiers, Jimmy Campbell, Sue Campbell, Wayne Goins, Keith Tilghman, Joey Peden, and Ray Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be The Faith Life 4:12 Youth.
