Thelma Lorena Holcomb, age 76, a resident of Creekstone Drive in Columbia, passed away Saturday morning, May 20, 2017 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Randy Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7PM and again on Monday from 11AM-12PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Thelma was born on October 15, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Edwin Smith and the late Georgia Mooningham Moore. She was retired from General Electric and Penn National Insurance and also worked at Sam’s Club for several years. Thelma was a member of the Red Hat Society. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed getting together with her family. She had a special place in her heart for her cat, Bootsie and dog, Bo.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Sheila (Donnie) Elrod of Readyville, TN, Jerry Todd Holcomb of Columbia, Bethany (Stacey) Anderson of Columbia, Scott Holcomb of Columbia; grandchildren: Christy (Jonathan) Swenson, Brook (Chris) Murphy, Lindsay Floyd, Justin Holcomb, Brandon Holcomb, Erin Holcomb, Morgan Anderson; great grandchildren: Allison Swenson, Andrea Swenson, Aubree Holcomb, and Felicity Murphy; and special friend: Jim Campbell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry B. Holcomb in October of 2010; and her granddaughter: Bridgette Floyd.

Pallbearers will be: Justin Holcomb, Brandon Holcomb, Jonathan Swenson, Chris Murphy, and Bart Anderson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Cancer Center, Chemo and Radiation Department, the nurses on the 3rd floor at Maury Regional Medical Center, and Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
