Edith Sharp, age 86, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday evening, May 9, 2017 at Life Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-8PM and again on Saturday 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 27, 1931 in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Edith was the daughter of the late Thomas Willis Lunn and the late Sarah Florence Allen Lunn. She was a dedicated member of Union Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 81 years. Edith loved being outdoors and in the sunshine especially helping her husband on the farm and tending to her many flowers. She also enjoyed singing and listening to music. Edith was a selfless and giving person who volunteered at NHC Hillview Nursing Home and NHC Maury until she was no longer able to at the age of 85. She was very family-oriented and especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Eddie) Vaughn of Spring Hill, Mark (Teresa) Sharp of Columbia; sisters: Betty Lentz of Columbia, Martha Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Pam (Michael) Davis of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren: Adam (Crystal) Vaughn of Columbia, Joshua Sharp of Columbia, Elliott (Sarah) Andrews of Culleoka; great grandchildren: Andrew Vaughn, Audrey Vaughn, Kaylee Andrews, Caleb Reed, and Brody Andrews; sister-in-law: Madge Jennings of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law: Dr. Harry Sharp of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Wayne Sharp who preceded her in death on December 4, 2012; step mother: Dorothy Lunn Fitzgerald; brothers: Herbert Lunn, Andy Lunn; and sisters: Lorene Connelly, Ivie Jean Harris, and Mary Francis “Tasy” Bolton.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Vaughn, Joshua Sharp, Randall Lunn, Tommy Lentz, Joshua Jones, and Elliott Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Union Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Life Care Center for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
