A final curtain call for a beloved drama teacher.
Georgia Anne Bomar, a retired Texas A & M University - Commerce (formerly East Texas
State University) associate professor from 1974 to 2006, passed away peacefully at her
home on April 17, 2017 at the age of 73. Anne was a teacher whose influence on her
students has and will last decades past her school days.
Not only did she teach drama and theater, she directed and acted in hundreds of
productions over the course of her career. After retiring in 2006, Anne moved to Spring
Hill, Tennessee to be closer to her family, but she couldn’t hold back the love for
theater. She began directing and acting with local production groups and passing on
her knowledge and love for the theater to another generation.
She is survived by a sister Peggy of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a sister Lucy of Kenner,
Louisiana, a sister Emily of Spring Hill, Tennessee and a brother William of Bartlett,
Tennessee. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews
that she loved like her own children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held to honor Georgia Ann Bomar on Friday, April 21 at 2p
at The Bridge Church, 3005 Parkfield Loop South, Spring Hill, TN. The family will
receive friends one hour prior to the service. The service will be officiated by Pastors
Rob Dewitt and Matthew Stone. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
