James Reason

March 27, 1930 - April 8, 2017

Mr. James “Jim” Phillip Reason age 87, of Columbia, passed away Friday, April 8, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Father Davis Chackaleckel and Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jim was born on March 27, 1930 and was the son of the late Harold P. Reason and the late Sally Flannery. He was born in Phoenix, AZ, but grew up in Michigan. Jim was retired from maintenance at the Ford Motor Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post #19. Jim was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Columbia and a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Janell “Jan” Piper Long Reason; sons: Brent Reason (Josie) of Las Vegas, Gerald Reason (Robin) and Boyd Reason (Renee) both of Michigan, daughter: Cheryl Marie Reason of Michigan, step children: Gwenie Beaton, Diane Roe (Mike), Patti (Bob) Powers, Mark Long (Lisa), 6 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren ,4 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Theresa Gillis Reason, son: Ricky Reason; and sister: Nancy Marie Downey.
