Mr. Bobby Ray McKennon, age 71, a resident of Knob Creek Road in Columbia, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Tommy Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in the Theta Community. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 4-8PM and again on Wednesday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Bobby was born on February 27, 1946 and was the son of the late Irvin McKennon and the late Effie Hanvy McKennon. He was a member of Theta Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Bobby worked as a painter, and enjoyed painting. He liked flowers, gardening, and working in green houses. Bobby had a helping personality and above all loved God and his family.

He is survived by his daughters: Sherri (Jimmy) Calvert of Leoma, Cathy Lopez (Sean Valdez) of Columbia, Brandy (Scott) Spurlock of Madison; brother: Billy (Tina) McKennon of Santa Fe; sister: Gracie Sparkman of Columbia, Betty Sue (Mike) Graham of Columbia; grandchildren: Tiffany Byrd (Chase Cribbs), Kayla Byrd, Alexis Nicole McKennon, Victoria “Puff” Spurlock; great grandchildren: Audree Marie Kinnard, Levi Lamont Kinnard; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Juanita Derryberry McKennon who preceded him in death in November of 2015; daughter: Leslie Renee McKennon; brothers: Wayne McKennon, A.C. McKennon, Henry McKennon; and sister: Helen McCall.

Pallbearers will be: Chase Cribbs, Sean Valdez, Robert Jeanette, Collie Fox, Samuel Fox, Kevin Webb, and Randall Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jimmy Calvert, Scott Spurlock, Mr. & Mrs. Porter, and Becky Webb.
