Bobby Mahaffey

Mr. Bobby Mahaffey, age 68, husband of Beth Mahaffey, and a resident of Brookside Drive in Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Travers and Keith Baker officiating. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 3-7PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 25, 1948 in Winchester, TN, Bobby was the son of the late Roy “Buck” Mahaffey and the late Catherine Conn Mahaffey. He was a 1967 graduate of Franklin County High School and earned a basketball scholarship at Columbia State Community College where he earned his Associates Degree. He married Beth on July 11, 1970. Bobby was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and was a maintenance volunteer. He worked at Wright & Lopez Construction before starting his work at Monsanto Chemical Company for many years and later began working in maintenance for the Maury County School System before he retired. He was previously on the Athendale softball team in Columbia. Bobby enjoyed gardening, doing yard work, and playing golf. He especially loved going to his grandson’s baseball games and practices.

In addition to his wife, Beth, he is survived by his daughter: Kimberly Mahaffey Boyd of Columbia; brother: Lonnie Mahaffey of Lexington, TN; grandchildren: Taylor Marcum, Zach Wray, Abby Mahaffey, Casen Boyd; great grandchildren: Benson, Blake, Ellie; sister-in-law: Sarah Wallace of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Brent Mahaffey; sister: Shelly Russell; and brothers: Gary Mahaffey and Larry Mahaffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of Bobby’s friends.
