Janie L. Swift

June 19, 1944 - March 17, 2017

Mrs. Janie Lou Walters Swift, 72, resident of Summertown, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at the New Salem Church of God on Buffalo Road in Summertown on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Young officiating. Inurnment will be in the Shaw Cemetery.

Born June 19, 1944 in Peoria, IL, daughter of the late Lewis Granbille Walters and Lula Frances Troxell Walters and the wife of Larry Swift. She was a homemaker, house painter and truck driver with her husband for three years. She loved gardening, reading and fixing things. She was a wonderful person, always helping people and cared about them as if they were her own family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Jeff Shults, John Shults and Wendy Spearman, all of Summertown and LaQuetta Boshers of Lawrenceburg; brother: Joe Walters; sisters: Sarah “Cathy” Walters, Doris Smithee, Dianne Frisby and Charlotte Lockard; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Barry Shults.
