John Ray "JJ" Jones

August 18, 1954 - March 11, 2017

John Ray Jones, age 62, and a resident of Hohenwald, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 4 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lindstrom officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born August 18, 1954 in Canton, Illinois and was the son of the late William Jones and late Marebell Melvin Jones. He attended Putnam County High School in Illinois. He served our country as a helicopter crew chief in the United States Army. He enjoyed riding horses when he was younger. Some of his hobbies included watching western movies and reading. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son: Jared (Beth) Jones of Washington; daughter: Jasmine (Brandon) McCoy of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Madelyn Jones, Krystalin Alexander, Michael Williams, Kalob Williams, Cayla Jones, Logan Jones, Peyton McCoy, and Camden McCoy.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter: Janet Alexander; and brother: William “Willie P” Jones.
