Martha Ruth Dodson

October 13, 1942 - March 6, 2017

Martha Ruth Dodson, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 06, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Booker officiating.  Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery in Mooresville.  The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday from 12 noon until the 1:00 PM service at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Martha was born October 13, 1942 in Giles County and was the daughter of the late Aaron Scott and late Beverly Ruth Cross Scott.  She was of the Methodist faith.  Some of her hobbies included bowling and cooking.  She also was an outdoor person, enjoying doing anything outside.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband: Jimmy Dodson of Columbia; sons: James Sander, Jr. of Columbia and Joe Sanders of Columbia; daughters: Pamela Welch (Tim Turner) of Columbia and Sheila Duke (Mark Booker) of Columbia; sisters: Patsy and Shirley; grandchildren: Ashley Duke, Whitney Duke, Kaitlyn McCandless, and Rebecca Sanders; great grandchildren: Khloe and Carly; also several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Peggy.

Pallbearers will be Tim McCandless, Tim Turner, Ricky Mencer, Freddie Morton, David Hazlett, and Mark Booker.
