Mr. Donald Ray Prince, age 73, husband of Rose Marie Prince, and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, February 27, 2017 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Beard officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM and again on Saturday from 12noon until the 2PM service at the funeral home. Burial services will be private. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 18, 1943 in Sheffield, AL, Donald was the son of the late Rayburn Lee Prince and the late Anna Josephine Prince. He married Rose Marie Bryson on August 6, 1997. Donald served four years in the United States Marines and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He worked as a welder and was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 572. In his younger years, he was an extraordinary baseball player. Donald enjoyed hunting, but especially loved bass fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Lisa (Tom) Marable of Memphis, Rose (Carl) Lamberth of Louisiana, Scotty (Jenny) Prince of Columbia, Michael (Wendy) Prince of Tullahoma, Ray (Jennifer) Prince of the Saw Dust Community, Kimpy Prince of Columbia, Brandy (Anthony) Fambrough of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Margaret Ann Riley of Columbia; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Billy Prince.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Mike Prince, Terry Prince, Jerry Fly, Bill Fly, Frank Fly, and Mike Thomas.
