Mr. Frederick Monford Valdez, age 91, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday evening, February 22, 2017 at Alive Hospice in Nashville just two days after the passing of his wife.
The celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1PM at Joey & Rory’s Farmhouse Concert Hall, 4554 Highway 431, Columbia, TN. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Fred was born on December 22, 1925 in Key West, Florida, and was the oldest of seven children. He was the son of the late Ignacio Valdez and the late Annie Pinder Valdez. Fred served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II where he was stationed at Orly Airfield Paris. After being honorably discharged, he went on to pursue a career with the United States Postal Service where he retired in 1981. Fred enjoyed gardening and baseball. He was a diehard Atlanta Braves fan.
He is survived by his sons: Skip (Kathy) Valdez, Richard (Laura) Valdez; and daughters: “Bunnie” Cecilia Avery and Eleana Ramona Rocc o ; brother: Gilbert Valdez; sisters: Mary Ann Caldwell, Linda Cianteo, Delorus Lanzillo, Neta Easterday; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to AliveHospice.org designated to the Nashville location or the American Legion Post 19 in Columbia, TN.
