Matthew Wayne Gabel

May 29, 1977 - January 23, 2017

Matt Gabel, age 39, a resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 29, 1977 in Wheeling, West Virginia, Matt was the son of Patricia Works (Fred) Garland and the late Harold Wayne Gabel. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was previously employed as a roofer. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and also enjoyed Nascar. Matt was a very good man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a jokester and could make anyone laugh.

In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by his wife: Carrie Gabel of Columbia; son: Dakota (Natalie) Gabel of OH; daughter: Shania Gabel of OH; step-sons: Jeremy (Christine) Coulter of NC, Ricky Johnson II of NC, Dalton Johnson of Columbia; brother: Jeff (Sunny) Gabel of OK; sisters: Tabitha (Willie) Lichwa of OH, Emily (Rick) Hall of OH, Janet (Scotty) Garland of OH, Michelle McIntyre of OH, Missy Varner of OH, Sheena Vanac of OH; and grandchild: Isys Marie Coulter of NC.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brother: Wayne Gabel.
