Johnny Vaughn, Jr.

Johnny Baxter Vaughn, Jr., age 69, husband of Cheryl Vaughn, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Points and Pastor Herb Helton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 28, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Johnny Baxter Vaughn, Sr. and the late Annie Mabel Street Vaughn. He worked as a line foreman for Duck River Power and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and the steering committee. He liked to work on automobiles and small engines, go hunting and fishing and to the Waffle House before and after work every day. He loved being with his family and his two pugs, Molly and Peggy. He loved all animals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Johnny Mark Vaughn; daughters: Annette Vaughn (Steve) Yerger and Susan Vaughn (Mark) Irick; step sons: Jason (Heather) Connelly and Beau Connelly; brother: Steve Vaughn; sisters: Betty Nash, Carolyn Fay e (Neal) Griggs, Ruth Bradford and Darlene (Will) Scribner; grandchildren: Bracken (Destin) Dodson, Jessica Arbuckle, Brittney (Ja’lynn) Arbuckle, Lance (Brianne) Arbuckle, Elizabeth Yerger, Caroline Yerger, Maddie Welch, Gabriel Connelly, Ryan Huckaby, Sean Connelly and Dean Connelly; great grandchild: Kaionna Booker, Jayce Everett Booker and Brylon Aaron Arbuckle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Lemuel Walter Vaughn, Lee Roy Vaughn and Charles Vaughn; a great grandchild: Bentley Wayne Glover.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Vaughn, Mark Irick, Steve Vaughn, Lance Arbuckle, Jason Connelly, Beau Connelly, Neil Griggs, Bracken Dodson and Stanley Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Open Door Baptist Church.
