Johnnie Mae Mealer Chambers, age 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28th at 12noon in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Brown and Pastor Telford Tharpe officiating. Entombment will follow in the Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Johnnie was born December 26, 1932 in Lane, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Willie D. Mealer and the late Finis Malvina Mealer. Johnnie married W.C. Chambers in 1953, who preceded her in death in 2012 after 58 years of marriage. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Columbia and worked with her husband in the finance industry. She enjoyed fishing and reading. She was known to be an excellent cook. Above all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her son: Corey Chambers of Columbia; grandchildren: Willis Calvin Chambers and Wendy Catherine (Jonathan) Jones, both of Columbia; great grandchildren: William Chad Chambers of Lynnville, Shawn Chambers, and Raylan Thomas Jones, both of Columbia; great great grandson: Westin Cain Chambers; daughter in law: Kathy Chambers; sisters-in-law: Aline Neace of Camden, TN and Mizellia Hammonds of Martin, TN; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son: Wendell Chambers; brothers: William Robert, Albert Cee, Coleman, and Finis Ray Mealer; and sister: Mary Florence Mealer Rowe.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Chambers, Chad Chambers, David Collins, Mark Sharp, Todd Dalton, and Jonathan Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. & Mrs. Mike Gibson and Kevin and Charlotte Spencer.
