Jerry Layne Tomlinson

July 31, 1948 - December 25, 2016

Mr. Jerry Layne Tomlinson, age 68, and a resident of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, December 25 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A service of remembrance will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Points officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born July 31, 1948 in Franklin, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sarah Sparkman Tomlinson. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era and retired from the United States Postal Service as a route courier. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his children: Layne Tomlinson and Sara Tomlinson, both of Columbia; step-daughter: Tammie (Joshua) Walker of Hendersonville; grandchildren: Elesa Aldis and Dathan Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Lester Tomlinson.
