James Michael Mealer

July 9, 1966 - December 17, 2016

James Michael Mealer, age 50, resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a tragic accident.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 10am at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Points officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 9am-11am and again from 4-6pm at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 9, 1966 in Williamson County, Tennessee James was the son of the late James Robert Mealer and Katy Sue Maitland Mealer.  He graduated high school from Franklin High School and had worked at McDonald’s for 13years.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his brother: Richard (Shelia) Mealer of Franklin; nephews: Alan Mealer and Brandon Mealer, both of Franklin; and uncles: Wayne Mealer of Lewisburg and Dwight Mealer of Centerville.

Along with his father, James is preceded in death by his nephew: Aaron Richard Mealer; and grandparents: James Ben and Thelma Mealer, and Annie Bell Kemp.
