Reva Faye Blocker Jones, age 85 and a resident of Paul Drive in Columbia passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 9, 1931 on Love’s Branch in the Hampshire Community, Faye was the daughter of the late Raymond Jacob Elijah Blocker and the late Maggie Hughlenora Burleson Blocker. She was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School where she played on the Lady Lions basketball team and was a longtime member of Highland Church of Christ. She and her husband, Billy Ray, married on September 10, 1950. He preceded her in death in August of 2015. Faye was a PTA room mother and a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and doing needlework. She also loved to travel, especially to Florida. She treasured a long career in retail sales in downtown Columbia, including employment at Woodbine’s Dry Goods and Smith’s Shoes.

She is survived by her sons: Barry (Rosemary) Jones of Chapel Hill and Thomas “Kenny” (Carol) Jones of Memphis; daughter: Janet Jones Wright of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Kara Wright Fowley, Bill (Heather) Jones, Hailey (Craig) Lowe, Benjamin Jones, Anna Jones; and great-grandchildren: Weston Jones, Avery Lowe, and Harrison Jones.

Along with her parents and husband, She is preceded in death by her brothers: Ottis Blocker and William Blocker; and sisters: Elizabeth Anderson and Geneva Myers.

Pallbearers will be Frank Woody, Roy Cochran, Frank Lindsey, Larry Delk, Ben Jones, Craig Lowe, and Bill Jones.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of Highland Church of Christ and the former employees of Woodbine’s Store.

The family would like to thank Frank Woody for his care and compassion shown to their mother.
