Barbara Westmoreland Woods

August 23, 1964 - December 16, 2016

Barbara Westmoreland Woods, age 52, lifelong resident of the Water Valley Community, died unexpectedly Friday, December 16, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at 6pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mylen Coble officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4-8pm and again on Tuesday from 4pm until the 6pm service.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Barbara was born August 23, 1964 in Columbia and was the daughter of the late Ruby Jewell Westmoreland Potts, and raised by her special grandmother, the late Mamie Jewell Westmoreland.  She was a 1982 graduate of Santa Fe High School.  She worked as a customer service representative for Haulers Insurance Company.   Barbara was a very active and energetic member of Viola Baptist Church and was a selfless person that would give to everyone.  She enjoyed being a volunteer at NHC Hillview.  She also treasured coaching different softball teams for twenty two years.  Barbara was a lady known to all for cooking and baking cakes of many kinds.

She is survived by her son: Jameson “Bubba J” Woods of Water Valley; daughters: Tonya Woods of Columbia and Amanda Woods of Hampshire; sisters:  Belinda Farris of Ft. Myers, FL and Sherry Russell (Lester) Hobbs of Columbia; special friends: Barbara “Nana” Chambers, Ronda “YaYa”  (John) Ussery, Jeff Kotlarczyk, Kyle Chambers, and Edward “PaPa” Chambers; nieces and nephews: Terry Joe Farris, Jessica “Fred” Farris, Autumn Russell, Kassie Russell, Johnathan Ussery, and Emilee Ussery; great nieces and nephews: Addisyn Farris, Alaya Ashworth, Aiden Smith, and Damion Farris; and beloved neighbor Miss Annie.

In addition to her mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her grandfather: T.C. Westmoreland; and great grandparents Robert Eugene and Ethel Cates Kelley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Beasley, Brandon Beasley, Josh Beasley, Members of Viola Baptist Church, and co-workers of Haulers Insurance Company.
