Karen Darnell McConnell

August 26, 1969 - December 16, 2016

Mrs. Karen Darnell McConnell, age 47, wife of Jason McConnell, and a resident of Baptist Branch Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Danny McConnell and Bro. Doug Smith officiating. Burial will follow in The Buddy and Daisy Burns Family Cemetery on Hilltown Road in Santa Fe. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8PM and again on Monday from 10AM-1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 26, 1969 in Columbia, Karen was the daughter of Betty Odom (Harold) Reed and the late Jimmy “Bone Daddy” Workman. She was a member of Zion Acres Freewill Baptist Church in Christ. She was a Christian woman who loved going to church. She also enjoyed cooking and riding horses. Karen was a devoted wife and mother who loved kids. She fought cancer with a smile and never complained.

In addition to her husband, mother, and step-father, she is survived by her son: Jay McConnell of Mt. Pleasant; daughter: Shyanne (Allen) Potete of Mt. Pleasant; brother: Jamie Workman of Mt. Pleasant; mother-in-law: Wilma Burns McConnell of Cross Plains; father-in-law: Freddie McConnell of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Jeannie McConnell Fairhurst of Cross Plains; grandfather-in-law: Buddy Burns of Santa Fe; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother: Andy Workman.

Pallbearers will be: Jason McConnell, Mark Clayton, Jerry Hinson, Phillip Brown, Stevie Mcconnell, Jason Perry, Wendell Spears, and Henry McMahan.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Kenny Norman, Doug Church and the members of Zion Acres Freewill Baptist Church.
