Everett Griggs

July 14, 1940 - December 15, 2016

Everett Griggs, age 76, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Claiborne & Hughes Health Center in Franklin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor J. J. King officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery in Williamson County. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Williamson County, Everett was the son of the late Preston Griggs and the late Frances Craft Griggs. Everett married, Clara Hill, on December 12, 1964. She preceded him in death in July of 2016. A few days after what would have been he and his wife’s 52nd wedding anniversary, Everett got his Christmas wish…. To be together with Clara again.

Best known as “Papa,” Everett had a wonderful personality and loved to make people laugh. He was a great father and Papa who loved kids, and especially loved his family.

He is survived by his daughter: Paula (Chester) Ragsdale of Primm Springs; brother: Roy (Sarah) Griggs of Williamson County; sisters: Shirley (Mack) Potts of the Theta Community, Faye Day of Williamson County; grandchildren: Magan (Cody) Osborne of Williamson County, Malory (Caleb) Anderson of Williamson County, Ollie Ryan of Primm Springs; great grandchildren: Whitney Potts, Payton Anderson, Gauge Osborne, Ben Ragsdale, Jade McKinney, and Eli Anderson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: J.W. Griggs; and sister: Kathy Potts.

Pallbearers will be: Landon Adams, Cody Osborne, Caleb Anderson, Ollie Ryan, Daryl Brown, and Tim Scott.
