Mr. William Allen Payne, age 66, a resident of Lynnville, passed away Thursday evening, November 17, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 5PM at Heritage Funeral Home with David Graves officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held on Monday from 3-5PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 15, 1950 in Drayton Plains, Michigan, William was the son of the late Wallace Jesse Payne and the late Doris Selleck Payne. He was a proud veteran of the Navy where he served from 1969-1989 as a Navy Corpsman serving in North Carolina, California, Japan, and on several ships. He retired from Maury Regional Medical Center in 2012 after twenty years as an x-ray technologist. William enjoyed farming, showing sheep, fishing, hunting, and his pal Crixus. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60, NRA, and several other associations. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who cherished his family above all.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon Chapman Payne of Lynnville; sons: Shawn (Carla) Payne of Lynnville, Marc (Shea) Payne of Lascassas, Kevin (Tabitha) Payne of Rainsville, AL, Scott (Casey) Payne of Columbia; daughter: Michelle Payne (Drew) Denney of Lynnville; brothers: Curtis (Claudia) Payne of New York, David (Peg) Payne of New York, Charles Payne of New York, Lynn (Bonnie) Payne of New York, Billy (Phyllis) Allen of Pulaski; sisters: Diana Payne of Lynnville, Debera (David) Weatherly of New York, Linda (Richard) Klancer of New York; twelve grandchildren; mother and father-in-law: Loretta (Gary) Anderson of Chapel Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Robert Wallace Payne.
