Willie “Ed” Shults, age 81, of Ethridge, TN, passed away peacefully at NHC-Scott on November 17 surrounded by his loving family.

He was a long time resident of Lawrence County after being born in Lewis County on October 14, 1935. Willie was a graduate of Lawrence County High School where he was a member of 1954 State tournament basketball team. Following his graduation, he joined the Air Force serving four years as a Dental Specialist. After beginning his career at Stauffer Chemical Company, he later worked for Champion International Paper where he retired after twenty-five years as an electrician at the mill.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nell James Shults and his father, Clellan Shults; brothers: Charlie and Mack Shults; and sisters: Joyce White and Debbie Lafferty. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Bentley Shults; son Keith (Debra) Shults; daughters: Kim (Bobby) Blackwood and Kelly (Tom O’Brien) Craig; brother, Harold Shults and sister, Peggy Bernatek. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Erick Blackwood, Amanda Donaldson, Emily Jordan, Ashley Shults, and Grace O’Brien; and his great grandchildren: Hayden Blackwood, Luke Jordan, Charles Donaldson, and Roman Blackwood.

A private service will be held.  Memorials may be made to: Unity Hospice Care, 3085 Fountainside Drive Suite 101, Germantown, TN 38138.

Anyone who ever met Ed knew his favorite team was Alabama Crimson Tide. So, his children leave you with these last words, “Roll Tide, Daddy!! We love you.”
