Janice Potts Burgett, age 73, a resident of Mooresville Pike in Culleoka, formerly of Primm Springs, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 3PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Johnson, Keith Baker, and Freddie Dean Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Potts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7PM and again on Monday from 1-3PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Maury County, Janice was born on September 22, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Claude Eugene Potts and the late Lola Mae Kelley Potts. She attended Santa Fe School and was a member of Elmore Nazarene Church in Primm Springs. As a homemaker, she enjoyed decorating her home. Janice also loved cooking and inviting people to her home for a meal. She liked to shop and tell old stories and jokes and was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. Also known as “Gas Happy,” Janice was a friend to everyone and especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son: Tim Stanfill of Columbia; daughters: Beverly Calvert of Culleoka, Carlene (Mark) Landers of Columbia; brother: Billy (Sandra) Potts of Primm Springs; sisters: Margie Lancaster of Columbia, Linda (Mike) Wall of Columbia; grandchildren: Cameron (Amber) Calvert, Jesse Hughes, Carly Mendes, Precinda Mendes, Joseph Mendes; great grandchildren: Peyton Calvert, Brady Calvert, Huston Hughes; step granddaughter: Tracey Landers; step great grandchildren: Channing and Baylen Luttrell; and special friend: Robert Sharp of Columbia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ray Burgett; infant daughter: Charlene Stanfill; brothers: J.B. Potts, Cecil Potts, Tommy Potts, Jerry Potts; sister: Betty Mae Potts; and one infant brother: Donald Potts.
Pallbearers will be: Freddie Dean Lancaster, William Potts, Don Potts, Peyton Harris, Gerry Cornelius, John Stanfill, Jessie Hughes, Anthony Osborne, JoJo Mendes, and Cameron Calvert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice Compassus, Care-All and Tiffany Tate, Maury Regional Critical Care Unit, and 3W Floor Staff.
